Utilizing RPG Maker VX Ace Lite – Book Cover Peek

Now that I have my first novel under my belt, Sight and Sound, moving onto to my next book.  This is a technical reference book for the free program RPG Maker VX Ace Lite. The program is available through Steam, and can be downloaded freely. Looking around on Amazon, I noticed no books were on the subject. Additionally, I just finished providing an online class to some kids using the free application. It went toward a computer credit.

Personally, I have used RPG Maker back with prior Window versions. It is a great game developer application, that allows you to play with creating RPG (Role Playing Game) worlds.

I have been working on creating a reference book for this free application. I am now working on the cover design, as I have my beta readers review my material. I am hoping to have this up and available in January 2017.  I wanted to provide a sneak peek of the cover design and my current project.

The above is another idea for the cover.

Sight and Sound – Book is now Available

It’s official !!!

My book is available in paperback. You can get it now by this link, and it will be available in Amazon.com 3-5 days. https://www.createspace.com

Jacob O’Brien won the VRD Gaming World Championship today. It’s been his lifetime goal.

Enhancing his personal VRD goggles beyond what the best geeks have produced. The googles gave him more than he counted on. A new sight providing him the ability to see “others” beyond the dimensional “veil”.

Jacob gains an unlikely partner, Sam, who can hear the “others. Sam has heard the “others” his whole life. Yet, he isn’t prepared for what the two must go through.

Throw in Jacob’s sister, who just wishes it all to go away, while battling her own demons, the three must figure out what they must do to survive the “war”, for control of Earth.

They have to work together to stay alive and help win this “war”.

If the “war” is lost, the world belongs to the ‘others”.

Sight and Sound Update – My First Official Novel

I wanted to reach out and update all. My first novel is now published through Amazon, via digital. I have the proof (paperback) sent to me. I should receive it next week. If it looks good, it will be my first available print book.

Obviously excited about this new step. The digital book is currently available to be purchased.
You can purchase the digital version, here. I would really appreciate the readers feedback on the first book of a planned series. Going forward, I will be creating books in paperback and digital version.

This book is available on Smashwords or Amazon !

My next step is to finish the “Utilizing RPG Maker VX Ace Lite” book. This will be a walkthrough, technical book to provide all the details of the available free Game Maker software. I have this 3/4 finished. As of now, it has just over 75000 words, with pics. I already have a willing beta reader for this book waiting.

Once that is complete, I can work on the second edition of “Utilizing IFTTT”. As of now the current books are digital only, and need to be upgraded.

However, for now, I wish to think all those supporting this endeavor.

Four Parts of Story – Look at Book – Writing Deep Scenes

In a recent trip, I had read an interesting book titled, Writing Deep Scenes, by Martha Alderson. Below are some nuggets from this book.

Martha points out there ware four energetic markers within every successful story.

  • ¼ mark – Point of no Return
    1. After an introduction to our world and character the character must push forward.
  • ½ mark – Rededication
    1. The character must have a powerful commitment to move forward.
  • ¾ mark –Dark Night
    1. The character is at his or her lowest point.
  • Near End – Triumph
    1. The character has completed his or her goal, surpassing the obstacles.

Interesting, these same four energetic markers correspond with the four parts of a story.

  • Beginning [ The Setup ]
  • Emerging Middle [ The Response ]
  • Deeper Middle [ The Attack ]
  • End [ The Resolution ]

While the book renames these four parts of the story, it does give a different lean on how to explain it. Overall, the book is a good read.
